Sunday November 9th, 2008
The air was crisp and the sunset vivid as the expectant crowd began to arrive for Sadie's Benefit at the Harbor, hosted by the Sunny Days Committee and the Ponchartrain Yacht Club.
Yards of table tops were covered with culinary delights donated by area restaurants, and the complimentary beer and wine flowed as easily as the music coming in from the outside deck where the house band, The Drunken Sailors, entertained.
The silent auction tables generated a constant buzz of anticipation as attendees placed their bids on a huge selection of donations from local artists, restaurants and merchants.
With volunteers and attendees, over 180 people attended the event in support Sadie and her family. Zella Walker (Sadie's Zee Zee) was on hand to greet everyone.
Ponchartrain Yacht ClubWhen asked to speak, Zella addressed the crowd:
"...There's just no way to say thank you to this wonderful, wonderful community who has shown us so much love..words just can't say it and I don't know where to begin to express just how much it has meant to us, our daughter, daughter-in-law and whole family....."
On behalf of Sadie, her family and the Sunny Days for Sadie Organizing Committee, we would like to thank all those who volunteered their time and resources to make this event a smashing success.
A special thanks to the following area businesses who donated generously:

Kickstand Café Ponchartrain Yacht Club
