On Saturday, December 13th, sixteen volunteer bakers prepared +/- 700 cookies and along with 7 human volunteers, one Christmas canine mascot volunteer and a very aggressive Little Bird puppet, sold 15 gallons of donated P.J's Coffee (yum), 10 gallons of Hot Spiced Cider and virtually every single cookie over a period of 11 hours!
In the morning, Sunny Days for Sadie sponsored a Sweets and Treats for Sadie Cookie Booth from 9am - 1pm at the Mandeville Trailhead during their Christmas Past Festival. That afternoon everything was moved to the Lakefront for Mandeville's Winter on the Water Christmas Festival.
Amidst the chaos of Santa's parade and arrival, the crowd swarmed for hot drinks and homemade cookies like hungry seagulls. Our cold, but warm-hearted and courageous volunteers handled things like seasoned barista's. With holiday music coming from the gazebo, the sounds of children laughing and playing and the twilight arrival of the boat parade along with perhaps the most fabulous sunset of 2008 - the only way the evening could have been better was if Sadie and her family were able to be there too.
Many, many, MANY thanks to the generosity of the crowd and our donors, the efforts of our bakers and the endless smiles of our booth volunteers. All of your efforts yielded $850.00 that has already been deposited in Sadie's bank account for her parents to use.
